Great Burner Thus Far..., (What's this?) Will give this nice burner a 4 star for now. It has burned DVD's without any problems. I have recently purchased Blu ray discs to try out but waiting until there's something worth copying. Software that comes with unit is decent and pretty much all you need to watch and burn. I use Media Center to watch DVD movies and use another program to copy discs. I will update this review once I burn some Blu rays; that will tell me if it was worth the price. I should also add that the drive has nice software to update the firmware automatically which should help with any potential or future problems with new media.
Excellent drive, I just wish it was a little faster, (What's this?) I have been completely satisfied with this drive, and have had no problems. The software bundle comes with a firmware update utility so you don't have to scour the internet for the most recent firmware. The only issue I have is that it is slow to copy Blu Ray disks with a typical time around five hours from start to finish. The picture quality is great on the burned disks through, so I'll sacrifice the speed for picture quality.

It is as easy to install as any other optical drive.

LG Electronics CH08LS10K LightScribe SATA Blu-ray Combo Drive, Bulk (Black)

BEWARE OF LG ELECTONICS, (What's this?) 0 COMMUNICATION / DIDNT ANSWER ME WHEN EMAILED TO COMPLAIN. / ITEM VERY CRATCHED UP & YES I UNDERSTAND IT IS USED. THERE IDEA OF VERY GOOD, HOWEVER IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN MIND. THIS DRIVE WAS A MESS WITH SCRATCHES.
Solid drive, good performance., I have an older Dell Precision with a Pentium 4. I was worried about getting the SATA set up, but it was no problem. I use the drive to extract MKVs and backup movies. So far, so good. Just know that to handle Blu-Rays, your PC should have an upgraded graphics card and power supply. Also, check out several different players because some will work better on your PC than others. I haven't burnt any CDs or DVDs with it, but have read elsewhere that it is pretty slow. So I left my old DVD burner in the 2nd bay.
Good drive, (What's this?) This is a nice drive. It does the job, can't complain too much. The Blu-Ray playing software was a bit of a pain to get working with Win7. I think I had to download a patch or new version.
I just wish I could turn the light off because it's installed in an HTPC.
easy to setup, (What's this?) I installed this on my Dell Inspiron 550 Desktop PC. I wanted to be able to watch Blu Ray discs on my computer. This drive installed easily and the software worked properly out of the box. The main reason why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the LG website is in my opinion hard to navigate and find the info that you are looking for. Prior to buying the drive, I went to the LG to research info about it. It was difficult finding the info that I needed. Also, after I purchased the drive, I went to the LG website to look up some info and again I felt the website wasn't very helpful.

Overall I am very happy with the drive. It lets me play audio CD's, DVD's and Blu Ray Movies. The Cyberlink PowerDVD software was easy to install and I haven't had any problems so far playing back DVD's or Blu Ray discs with this software. One complaint that I have about the software is that the PowerDVD software occasionally prompts me to inform me that my trial period expired and asks me if I want to upgrade to be able to continue watching movies. It does this on start up. If I ignore the message and close out the pop up box, then restart the software, the movies play fine. I guess a limited version of PowerDVD is included with the disc instead of a release version, but I am still able to play movies without any problems.

It's also convenient to have the Lightscribe feature built into this drive. I can burn DVD/CD titles for my personal discs with this feature.
nice quality, (What's this?) As expected from LG their quality was in superb condition. LG made another great product. Mine did not come with a SATA cable but that was fine because I already had a few extra.

Awesome, (What's this?) I burned 25 BDs in just a few days and not a single dud. It's fast and it works. Not sure what more to say except that it was worth every penny.
100% SO FAR, I got this drive about 1 month ago. I have burned every type of media including BD-R, BD-RE DL and worked every time. Drive is silent. I also have used the LTH media (much cheaper) and worked every time. So far 100%. The software that comes with it is nice- it allows you to burn data BD-Rs.
Another winner by Sony, Works great with Verbatim BD25 discs. Owned this one for six months. Paired this with the Samsung Blu-Ray Drive with Lightscribe (read only BD drive).

LG UH12LS28K LightScribe 12x SATA Blu-Ray Combo Internal Drive, Bulk (Black)

They Left Blu-ray ROM out of the title., (What's this?) Ultimately it's my fault for not reading the fine print. But I searched under Blu-Ray Burner and found a title with "Blu-Ray Combo" in the search results. I also own a couple of LG blu-ray burner units.
Fastest DVD & Blu-Ray reader I've seen!, I bought this from another online retailer back on 7/9/2011 (for $12 less I might add). In short, it exceeded every expectation I had for it. It is the fastest reader I have (and I own 6, including Plextor, LiteOn, etc). It will read discs perfectly that other readers just give error after error trying to read. As a burner, it is certainly at the top of the speed list as well.
Bought it to play blu-ray discs and it refused to play any - had to get a cable too, (What's this?) Five stars is the best possible review. When I review a book at five stars, I am saying that I was happy when I read the book, all the time I was reading the book.
Surprise bluray player s/w included, (What's this?) I was under the impression this bulk drive would not include the player s/w but it did! It's definintely faster than my other 1 year dvd drive when I did the windows 7 install twice using the new and old drives.

Great product, (What's this?) This is a truly superb buy on a great product. I have had zero problems with the drive. Use it as an external drive on my Mac Pro. Does a super job on discs with no frisbees. Caveat: Blu-Ray discs must be immaculate when you go to burn them. Leave unburned discs in the cake box and do NOT handle the surface under any circumstances.
Great Drive, kinda sucky software, I have a LG WH08LS20 8x Blu-ray and have burned about 6 disks so far using the stock software that LG provides and using Verbatim 25 GB and 50GB disks and they performed fine. There was a problem burning one disk, but it wasn't the fault of the disk, it was the fault of the LG software, after i fixed my filenames it worked fine. My first few disks i burned at 4x but i burned the rest at 6x no problem.

the problem i encountered with the software were filenames (with paths) that were too long, and also filenames that were different cases, where causing problems. I basically just used windows 7 to burn the disks, and then it was fine.
Not much to say, it works as advertised, (What's this?) I purchased this burner for my new gaming system and I have no complaints. It runs quietly while working and the software that comes with it is pretty good. Sorry I can't say more but I've only owned it for about a month.
that new upgrade smell...., (What's this?) If your DVD/Blu Ray/DivX/mp3 library is ANYTHING like mine, you've crossed well over into your neighbour's backyard when it comes to storing DVD disks and your mp3 collection can't fit onto 4 of those Apple iPod 120GB classics. So, this is the next best thing - Blu Ray disks at 25 or 50 GB per disk.

Blu Ray Playback:
You will need DIGITAL video outputs for video playback, such as HDMI or DVI, or even the mini-versions of each. If your pc is equipped with the good old-fashioned SVGA output - you won't be able to play any of those Blu Ray movies on your pc. However, when hooked up in a pc which has even a 720p monitor connected via HDMI, it plays video flawlessly.

Incomplete software, (What's this?) The player I received was actually a model WH12LS38. The LG website will give no reference to it. The player did not come with a SATA data cable, purchased locally for $3. The software pack came advertising PowerDVD 9. The program would not open or run. I went to the file location and found an icon stating this is a trial version and the user time was expired. Bottom line is that this player does not come with software which will actually play a BluRay DVD out of the box.
The player seems to work fine and will play a standard DVD with Windows Media Player just fine. I am now considering what BluRay player program to purchase. I did not expect this added expense and am disappointed that I will have to purchase a program soon just to verify that the player functions as described before the warranty expires.
No Problems, (What's this?) Easy to set up-good software updates-does what it is supposed to do. Burns quickly for bluray. Would reccommend for the caual burner.
Excellent Blu-ray burner, (What's this?) This is an excellent Blu-ray burner drive for its price. It automatically updated the firmware with the LG Utility Tools. Supposed to be bulk item but came complete with Cyberlink Blu-ray software, manual and cables.
Flawless burning of blu-ray, (What's this?) This BD burner has performed perfectly for me, and it is FAST! No coasters, with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, BD-R, and BD-RE. Mine came with software, but I use ImgBurn mostly. Excellent deal.
Deceiving company, (What's this?) First, let me say that I ordered this product under the assumption that it was EXTERNAL. When it arrived in the mail, I discovered that it was actually INTERNAL. I decided to just go with it and took apart the computer monitor to see if I could install it. Come to find out, it was missing a power cable. I contacted the seller and they gave me the address to return it to. The had the nerve to tell me that there was a 15% restocking fee, plus I have to pay for the shipping and handling. What a crock!!!!! Never again will I buy from this company, and I highly suggest that you don't waste your time with them either.
Inexpensive Full Retail Blu-ray Writer, (What's this?) This is a rather simple device in operation so there isn't that much to say. The unit looks sharp with a nice chrome sort of strip toward the bottom of the drawer which makes for a nice break from the usual all black facades which most devices of this type sport.

Unlike many other competitive Blu-ray reader / writers at this price point, this unit is a full retail copy containing not only all the hardware you need to mount it, but good instructions and software to operate this unit.

Installation was simple. The device works perfectly as far as I can tell. There really isn't that much more to say. If I were to do the buy again, I'm completely sure I'd redo this purchase.
Good value and Quality, (What's this?) This drive was purchased to replace an older blu ray burner that cost 3 times as much. It has been able to burn discs that the old drive stopped being able to, and it is also 4 times faster. Great disk drive!, I initially ordered the Pioneer BDR-206DBK, but after reading some other reviews here on Amazon, I decided to test this drive as well.

I wanted a Bluray disk drive in my Core i7 Hackintosh running MacOS X Snow Leopard, so I can convert some Blurays I have to view them on a Roku device, as well as the other Macs in the house (including the Hackintosh).
Good value, (What's this?) Good value for all the options. A little noisy compared to the old drive but worth the noise for the cost. Did not include SATA cable.

now it states that it comes with a bunch of software, and it does, but they are all 30-60 day trials. you will get an annoying pop up box saying "upgrade" or "buy now" every time you go to use it, and I am sure it will stop working after the 30 days.

I find it frustrating when companies sell a product advertising software that comes with it, when said software is just a trial. 0 stars for the software.

Just what I needed, I was hesitant to buy this drive because of previous review. Then again, I just needed the blu ray burner and not the software. It's better than I originally thought.

First, the drive is a godsend. Work as it is suppose to. No gripe there.

The software that comes with it is a Cyberlink software that has all of the playback feature. It will play blu-ray movies, DVD, CD, etc. The playback feature is free and don't need to be upgraded.

LG Super-Multi Slim Blu-ray Combo Drive CT21N - Bulk

Good replace for my dvd laptop drive, (What's this?) The LG CT21N drive was the perfect option to replace the Sony Artiac AD-7585H-AR drive included in my Acer Aspire 5738PG-6306. I played a bunch of BD Movies with the Cinema software without perfomance problems. The depth is minor from the original drive so this unit keeps keyed. Even so, it doesn't look bad in the border of the laptop. Good adquisition.
Trouble ahead., 5 months into it, and this drive will no longer burn DVDs. Doesnt matter if they are DVD+/- or RW,
they just wont burn. Most of the time now Windows wont even recognize that a blank disc has been
inserted, and causes a lockup of Explorer. Very frustrating.

On the upside, it does still play both DVDs and Blu-Rays flawlessly, and load times are pretty fast.
This came bundled with an Asus laptop, and Asus has had so many complaints about this drive they have
removed the Topic from their forums.

Windows keeps telling me to "update the firmware", but this disc is driverless, and firmware does not
exist.
Great laptop replacement, (What's this?) Just arrived in the mail. I replaced the DVD drive in my Asus G74SX. It seems to work prefectly, just had to swap out the mounting bracket and the faceplate. Be careful with the faceplate. Use a small flat screwdriver and press softly. Don't strain it or the tabs seem like they'll break off rather easily.

I haven't put this through its paces yet, but it reads as a BD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer. Also, I understand, and you should too, that you need to have Blu Ray software to read a Blu Ray movie. Window 7 does NOT come with playback software.

Replacement for Toshiba CD/DVD UpGrades to BLU Ray, (What's this?) My daughter's computer cd/dvd drive broke and warrenty was over within 13 months. BestBuy wanted to charge alot of money to repair/fix/upgrade it. I would of been better buying another laptop. It would of cost over $300 plus. I found a computer person to replace it cheaper and it was upgraded to Blu Ray too! It worked and fit beautifully. I was so happy and it came in and was fix within a week. Dont you hate when your teen uses your computer.
Great Buy For Lenovo Thinkpad i5, After searching for months for a good Blu-ray disk drive for my Thinkpad i5 0578-A99 laptop, I finally broke down and bought this. I installed it with NO problems, and my computer automatically uploaded the drivers. I installed CyberLink Power DVD 11 Ultra on my computer and watched a movie then started typing this review. Does not read BD, (What's this?) A Blu-Ray drive that doesn't read Blu-Ray disks! Apparently this is an OEM drive and it doesn't have any firmware updates available. Stay away for Blu-Ray movies.
Actually CT30N now, I guess the CT30N is the newest drive that replaces the CT21N. The drive is a flawless replacement for the OEM drive in my Acer Aspire 7535 with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. The drivers installed automatically and without issue. Swapping the face plates takes longer than installing the drive, drivers, and player software combined. Blu ray playback requires additional software so I downloaded a free trial of PowerDVD 10 Mark II.
