Blu-ray Writer Sata Black

LG Electronics BH12LS38 Internal Blu-ray Writer, (What's this?) I have been a audio/video geek for many years and have used a good many kinds of players, recorders and re-writers. Since 2004 I went through many different brands, Samsung, Panasonic, Sony,Toshiba and the list goes on. A good many were burner/re-writers that were offered with the computer packages I bought, Dell, Mac, HP. Since I build my own boxes I purchase what I like and what has performed to my preferences and expectations. Of all the drives I have purchased LG products have been the best over the long haul. I do a lot of encoding and burning of my own Blu-Ray, AVCHD, and standard format DVDs. A burner/re-writer will last me at best 12 to 16 months before the lazer finally gives out. My last LG was a mod WH10LS30 I got a little over a years worth of duty out of it. This current LG mod BH12LS38 is by far the best unit I have ever owned in a several ways. Performance wise it is incredible, no spin-ups or downs,no power calibration errors or otherwise useless coasters out of the expensive bu-ray media I use. When you start a burn its is consistent and it isn't effected by system load or other power draining applications that can cause little quirks in some drives. When you set the speed of the drive it will burn at that speed without any variation.I understand this is one of the highest rated drives out there right now and I can understand why. I own three custom built boxes and each one is equipped with LG burners and Blu-Ray re-writers of various models, all have preformed admirably. This current drive is a bit more expensive than the others but I think you get what you pay for, its worth the extra few dollars. Amazon had it on sale through my prime account which made it all the more attractive. You simply cannot beat Amazon for their fast service and second to none return policy. If you are looking for a fast, dependable multi-drive with light-scribe, this is the one to buy. You wont be disappointed. "http://www.amazon.
Works great!, (What's this?) Bought this to replace a failing DVD burner. This one was easy to install and works as advertised. No complaints.
LG BH12LS38 Super Multi Blue Blu-ray drive not Reporting Capacity Correctly after writing data files to a disk., LG BH12LS38 Super Multi Blue Blu-ray drive not Reporting Capacity Correctly after writing data files to a disk.
I basically like the LG BH12 Blu-ray drive. It installed quickly & easily and seems to work fine on my 64bit Windows 7 system. I bought this drive mainly for backing up data to Blu-ray disks for the high capacity over standard DVDs.

However, after writing data to the Blu-ray disk I noticed that the Capacity is not being reported correctly on the Windows Explorer Properties. I'm using 25GB disks and as I added files to the disk and got closer to filling it up I right clicked on the drive and clicked Properties to see how much space remained. I was surprised to see that the capacity was now changed to 18GB. The files on the disk seem to be intact but they are not reflected in the used space. I can still write files to the disk and all the file seem to remain intact. But now I don't trust the integrity of the files on the disk.

I've tested this using other Blu-ray disks and the problem always appears. However, the capacity is never the same on the last attempt/test the capacity went from 25GBs to 6GBs

I've goggled this but so far haven't anything about this problem. So I don't if this is a Windows 7 problem or a LG Firmware problem.

This a real problem for me because I really like the drive in every other way but I just don't see how I can use it with this capacity problem because I can't trust that my backed up data files are reliable.

If anyone has come across this problem and knows of a solution that would be great.
