Great price and Super Efficient, It took me some research to find a Bluray drive that wont screw up my computer. I've read a lot of bad reviews on cheaper Bluray drives. But this product is cheap and good at the same time (not something you run into everyday).
Immediately after receiving this drive, I stuffed it into my computer. At first, I didn't know if it would actually kick-in (I have a 350W PSU with a lot of components that require a lot of power). Plugged it in, turned it on, PERFECT. I watched 4 BluRays yesterday, not a single issue. The CyberLink software that came with it supports my remote that I used for Windows Media Center before, so >>>this kid<<< is very happy. =D
Accidently fell asleep last night with a movie still playing, it played all night on it's main menu, but the drive runs quietly and smooth.
Unit started smoking as soon as I powered it up, Maybe I was unlucky and received a rare defective unit. But as soon as I powered up my PC I saw smoke coming out of the S-ATA data connection (oddly enough it wasn't coming from the power connection). I quickly disconnected it and put my old dvd player back in the computer to make sure I did't get some short in the motherboard or sata connection. The old dvd fired up just fine.
Amazon is great about taking returns but I was looking forward to watching blu-ray movies on my computer.
Good Bluray Drive, (What's this?) Good Bluray drive. Comes with the drive, cable, and software package. I installed the drive and software in matter of 15 minutes and started watching a Bluray movie.

Good looking drive which works very well too!, (What's this?) I would highly recommend this if you are in the market for an internal blu-ray reader! Very good BD drive/DVD Writer(this does not write on Blu-ray discs)for the money, especially since it is a retail packaged drive, more on this a moment later, Samsung does not disappoint, comes with all the required accessories (SATA cables, screws for tooled drive bays) and some great software!
The performance is much above par (12X is in fact the fastest you would be able to find on a bluray reader) and the read-write speeds are more than satisfactory, but then again, no need to get that technical with a blu-ray drive right, it does read all formats well, everything that I have thrown at it has worked well so far, +R, -R, DL all have worked well! Lightscribe is a plus although I don't use it that much, so can't comment on that!
Aesthetically speaking it is a good looking drive and the blue activity LED in the front adds to the appeal, the drive looks great on my PC and now on my HTPC.
Great blu ray drive and software bundle, Easy installation. I replaced my old DVD burner with this blu ray dvd burner. The drive was simple to install, just plug and play. I have windows 7 and an old AMD 2 core duo, but it works great. The software bundle installed easily and has not had any problems playing any of the blu rays in my collection. Blu ray software alone can cost almost as much as this drive. I have converted my old pc into a media computer, and I highly suggest the Ipazzport blue tooth mini keypad if you plan to use this blu ray drive in a similar manner. Do not hestitate to purchase this product. Only thing you may want to spend extra money on would be a blu ray burner, which is about the only thing this drive does not do. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time or money on burning blu rays. I keep any HD videos on have on internal or external hard drives. If you're just looking to play blu rays and perhaps burn some standard dvds or cds, then this is an excellent choice.
VERY NICE, (What's this?) This a very nice RETAIL DVD drive. If you are in the market for a new DVD drive I highly recommend this one. Don't waste your time on those cheap OEM DVD drives out there, the money you save isn't worth the headaches. This drive is worth every penny I paid for it and I intend to purchase another one soon.
Quiet, easy installing drive, (What's this?) I have a Windows 7 media center PC which I use to watch TV and play movies. Recently I've been making the transition over to Blu-Ray. Rather than buying a dedicated blu-ray player, I bought this drive and replaced my bundled DVD drive. Note that I have an Nvidia video card with HDCP support and an HDMI port, and use a projector with an HDMI port as my display device.
Pro:
+ Drive is standard size & controls, no funny business. Works just fine in my Dell Inspiron 620.
+ Drive operation is quiet in blu-ray mode. I can't hear it over the hum of my computer and (relatively quiet) projector. No hiccups, either!
+ Included samsung software was easy to install on my box (Windows 7 home premium 64-bit), and will take care of watching out for firmware patches, which is nice.
+ Includes software to let you play Blu-Ray DVD's. While I wasn't able to play them in media center, both the bundled Blu-ray player and Windows Media Center had no problem playing Blu-ray.
Con:
- As far as I can tell, can't play Blu-ray in the normal windows media player. I would prefer it if I could!
Overall a good drive, wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
